We’ve decided to make a strategic pivot to better serve our clients by (1.) spinning off our award-winning software security training products into an independent company called CMD+CTRL Security, and (2.) selling the larger part of Security Innovation, our globally renowned software and cloud security assessment business we’ve been known for since 2002, to the French conglomerate Bureau Veritas. This allows us to focus on our core competencies and deliver superior value to our clients across the world.
Since our founding as a software penetration testing company in 2002, Security Innovation has served the industry’s most trusted brands – Amazon, Microsoft, American Express, Symantec, and others. The genesis for our training products nearly 15 years ago was enabled by one of those clients (Microsoft) to help improve the self-sustainability of secure software development and deployment. This business has grown considerably, appearing as a leader in G2, the Gartner Magic Quadrant, and other industry reports. While successful, this is a different business model with different drivers and buyers. As a result, two years ago, we decided to start “operating” our two lines of business independently, creating a marketing and sales structure specific to our products and services. The spin-off of CMD+CTRL Security is a natural extension of this divestiture and can now be positioned more precisely so the market understands its unique value proposition against the competition that currently lags in innovation, interactivity, and rich content.
Software security testing has been the staple of Security Innovation’s business for over two decades and is the service on which the company was founded. We have expanded our capability to cover all major technologies and platforms to help our customers improve the security of the products they develop and use, the process by which they are built, and the environments in which they operate. This business will thrive under the new ownership of Bureau Veritas (BV), a global leader in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) industry. We will leverage BV’s extensive experience in standards and sustainability conformance to bring pragmatic solutions to the cybersecurity industry.
Existing customers can continue to receive the same high-quality services they have come to expect from Security Innovation across the board. Our service customers will also now have the backing of Bureau Veritas’s global expertise in quality and certification.
Our future offerings will be more robust and aligned with industry standards. CMD+CTRL will continue to innovate in the training space, while our assessment services will integrate best practices and standards driven by Bureau Veritas, making our solutions more effective and reliable. Security Innovation will also have the newly available scale of other security business units inside of Bureau Veritas to share talent, expand capacity, and deliver more timely comprehensive services.
